We are unashamed bird enthusiasts in my home, and where we live, we have the opportunity to visited by American Robins, chickadees, blue jays, and the occasional cardinal. Hawks abound, and there are just enough bald eagles here to keep us in awe when we see one and yet not go too long without seeing one. These easy and fun pinecone bird feeders won’t bring an eagle to your yard but will certainly attract other flittering friends (as well as squirrels and deer).
Materials needed:
Pinecones- I use the ones that are in my yard but if you do not have any you can buy some here
Peanut Butter
Bird Seed
Butter knife or Spoon
Twine
Step 1: Spread peanut butter on your pinecone
Step 2: Roll in or sprinkle on bird seed
Step 3: tie the twine around the pinecones
Step 4: Hang in an area where you can see from your window
Voila! Your very own bird feeder! For an added activity, assign a child the responsibility of keeping a chart of all the birds (and other creatures) that visit.
Happy Crafting!
