Your kids will enjoy this fun and easy craft where they get to create their very own bird! The best part is that there are no rules except to make sure it has the basic bird characteristics: a beak, two feet, and two wings. For an added writing activity, you can have your children give their bird and name, type, and make up basic facts about their bird’s eating, hunting, nesting, and flying habits.
Materials need:
Card stock- white and yellow
Feathers
Glue
Various coloring mediums- paint, markers, colored pencils, crayons
Paint brushes
Small paper plates
Googly eyes (optional)
Step 1- Put the two small paper plates together and cut 2 triangles (for a total of 4). Optional: Cut 2 small diamonds for the beak (I did, but my daughter still decided to paint them on)
Step 2: Create the bird’s body
Step 2: Attach the wings and paint. Add your feathers too!
Step 3: Hole punch between the wings
Step 4: Hang from your ceiling
Voila! Your very own bird! Give it a name and characteristics and present to the family before bedtime.
Happy Crafting!
